About the O.T.C. > Overview

The Ontario Traffic Conference was formed in 1950 by a small group of municipal officials, who saw the need for a co-ordinated effort to improve traffic management in Ontario, by drawing together the knowledge and expertise of those in the field of Enforcement, Engineering and Education.

The O.T.C. mission statement is "To Develop and Promote Expertise Regarding Traffic Matters Affecting Ontario in Keeping with Current and future Transportation, Social and Environmental Goals through Engineering, Enforcement and Education".

The following are some of the specific aims of the O.T.C.:

  1. To provide a source for the dissemination of the latest information and techniques for improvement in traffic safety and management of traffic.
  2. To assist and co-ordinate with the various governmental, other agencies and organizations with an interest in the traffic and parking fields.
  3. To develop and improve educational programmes relating to the fields of traffic safety, traffic/parking enforcement and traffic/parking operations.
  4. To encourage and promote technical investigations and reports on topics of current interest in the field of traffic and parking.
  5. To solicit participation of all persons engaged in traffic engineering, parking and traffic safety in Ontario.

Organization
The O.T.C. is a unique organization in that it draws its members from elected representatives, police services, traffic/transportation engineers, parking, industry and individuals in related fields. This allows the O.T.C. to promote a better understanding among those persons, who have a sincere interest in the safe and efficient movement of traffic.

The affairs of the O.T.C. are administered by a board of 10 directors, who are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. The structure of the Board offers a balanced representation of the membership.
